How much will it cost for new eyes
in my doll?
A: New eyes in a doll are a very common
repair though they all not repaired in the same way. New eyes can
range from $45.00 through to $170.00 it really depends on several
things, what type of eyes we are using and how they are to be set
into the head.
Can you have hair sewn into the head
of my doll, like it was originally?
A: Unfortunately
re-sewing hair cannot be done, however we can remove the existing
hair and secure a wig of your choice over the top. See our Doll
Accessories section for some examples of our wigs.
My doll has a rag-body, it is coming
apart at the seams, what can you do?
A: We can re-stitch
seams if the fabric is not too damaged. Alternatively, if the body is
very badly damaged and cannot be stitched, we can replace the cloth
body. We use your original body as a pattern, make the new body in
calico and pack it with new filling.
My daughter has a Baby Born vinyl
doll which has texta drawn on it. Can you remove it? I’ve tried
everything!
A: We can successfully remove
ink from vinyl. There is no product that you can buy over the
counter that will remove texta as it soaks right into vinyl. We have
a proceedure that is extremely successful at removing ink, however it
can take up to 6 weeks as the process needs to be repeated over and
over to remove all of the ink.
The arm has fallen off our Baby
Born. Can you fix it?
A: There were actually two different
model’s of Baby Born made, and unfortunately we can only repair one
of the two. The earlier model had a torso held together by four
screws in the back of the torso. This is the one that we CAN repair
arms/legs/head. The later version has a sealed torso therefore cannot
be repaired.
Can you replace a wig and how long will it
take?
A: We stock a large variety of colours, styles and
sizes of wigs. They can be attached on the spot while you wait and
generally take only a few minutes.
Can you replace pads on my bear and
what type of material would you use?
A: We can replace
pads on bears where they have worn a little thin, we use a few
different materials on their pads. The choices are Doe-skin or felt.
My bear has lost his eyes, nose,
mouth and some filling, can you fix him and how long will it
take?
A: Yes we can add some new filling to his body,
to fatten him up again. We can supply and attach glass eyes, so he
will see again and we can also stitch a new nose and mouth for him
too smell and taste again with. He will also come home with a
beautiful new ribbon around his neck to brighten him up!
How can I clean my bear, its all
jointed and filled with sawdust?
A: These old bears, we
really wouldn’t recommend cleaning. Most bears of that age are
fragile and may not stand up to the cleaning procedure. We suggest
leaving them as is, perhaps give his fur a light brush to spruce him
up. Bears that are of a plush modern material, we can remove the
filling, clean the outer material, then repack the bear with new
filling and stitch him all back together.
Can you repair Porcelain?
A: We can repair porcelain, though it’s impossible to make a repair
invisible. There are several colours that are fired into
porcelain, so you will never receive a flat invisible finish. To try
to match these colours and get the same finish, we can do it in a
best possible way and touch up any paint if the item is painted.
Do you sell shoes, socks and
clothes for dolls?
A: We have a specialist dressmaker, who
can make to order. We also have a rack of dolls clothes in the
shop, period dressing and shoes and socks and all sorts of
accessories are available.
